Finding the right company to help you improve your website prospects is vital.  This is a company that (as far as the Internet is concerned) will become a partner with you on your website, you need to feel comfortable doing business with them.

1. Do they understand your business and your clients?
It is imperative that whoever you use understands your clients and their needs, as well as those of your business.  Without this, you will end up with a generic website that will produce low results.

2. Does their marketing plan fit in with yours?
Many’s the time we have seen internet marketing agents going one way, and the client another. This usually ends up in disaster (or at least lost opportunities).  Make sure that you both understand where you are both are going with your plans.

3. Do they share your goals for the website?
There is no point wanting a website that is going to promote your service, and they design you a nice airy-fairy website that wouldn’t sell ice cream to a child. Good design should always be fit for purpose, it shouldn’t distract from the purpose.

4. Do they understand business basics?
Business is about profit, period.  Everything else is just a route to improving that bottom line.  If your Internet Marketing consultant doesn’t understand this, and understand how to arrive at that figure, you may as well give your money away. Costs can quickly stack up on the Internet, a naïve advisor will let it run that way.

5. Are you comfortable with them?
Going back to the main point here, your consultant is, in effect, a business partner.  If you don’t feel comfortable talking to them then you don’t need any other reason.  For this to work everyone needs to be able to talk openly and frankly, if you can’t do that, then you will struggle to make this work.
